The only complaint I have about these homemade tortilllas is that I didn't made them sooner! They are SUPER yummy, fun to make, and contain no icky aluminum like ones you buy in the store! I found this recipe at The Veggie Table. This recipe makes about 6 tortillas. For this recipe you will need:
- 1 cup of unbleached flour ( I use a mixture of unbleached and wheat)
- 2 tablespooon oil (I use coconut oil)
- 1/2 cup of water
- touch of salt, to taste
- Mix flour (salt) and oil together well. You should use your hands to mix the oil into the flour so well that it appears to be damp.
- Slowly mix in the water. Stir well.
- Let sit for about an hour.
- Seperate dough into six balls.
- Flatten them out in sphere shapes, not using any oil or flour while kneading.
- Cook on ungreased frying pan or wok on low to medium heat, until slightly brown on each side.
- Put tortillas onto a plate inside of a large plastic bag. Close immediately after adding each tortilla as the steam makes them pliable.
- Enjoy! :)
