Review of Trader Joe's Organic Sprouted Tofu

Share this page:

Trader Joe's now sells this sprouted tofu. I like it; it tastes just like regular tofu to me. And personally,  I think this is the best tofu option, since sprouting makes it more digestible and reduces phytic acid.

This is actually half of the pack as it comes with two individually wrapped blocks. I like to bake my tofu, then add it to some veggies like in the picture below.

What is your favorite brand of tofu, and how do you like to eat it?

Meatless Monday: On My Plate... Sunshine burger and Daiya Cheese! :)

We picked up a new type of veggie burger at Whole Foods this week... the original Sunshine burger. (See review section of YVD for review of Sunshine burger.) Since my allergies have been acting up, I chose a vegan cheese this week- Daiya cheese. (Again, see review section.:) The bun is a Trader Joe's stone ground whole wheat bun.

I actually ate this yesterday, but may eat another today. Speaking of yummy food, we also picked up some salsa  made from peaches (made in-store)... quite possibly the best salsa I've ever eaten! It was so yummy! I'll have to pick some more up to blog about, cuz we ate it all! ;)

Until next time.... God bless!

Try It Tuesday: Trader Joe's Veggie Burger

Well, we decided to pick up these Trader Joe's Veggies Burgers over the weekend, and I'm glad that we did. When I ate one for lunch today, I was very pleased with the way it tasted. Certainly one of the better veggie burgers I 've had.

The ingredients are freekeh wheat, carrots, onion, celery, liquid eggs, citric acid, bread crumbs, sugar, yeast, soybean oil, parsley, salt, garlic, coriander, cumin, black pepper.

One burger has 11 grams of fat, only 2 grams of sugar, 5 grams of protein, and 50% of the daily allowance of vitamin A.

Overall, I like them and I would buy them again.

Have you tried these? What do you think of them? Why not leave a comment below? :)

Until next time.... God bless!

Try It Tuesday: Trader Joe's Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns

The packaging on these hamburger buns make them seem like they should be part of a summer picnic. Aside from the package they are in, they are very tasty. They are soft and have a good flavor. I definitely give them 2 thumbs up. The ingredients are:
100% stone ground whole wheat flour, water, barley malt, wheat gluten, yeast, cold pressed corn oil, sea salt, cultured wheat flour, soy lecithin, sesame seeds.

One bun has only 2 grams of fat and 1 gram of sugar. That same bun provides 5 grams of protein and has a minimal amount of calcium and iron.
Next time you are at Trader Joe's, why not pick some up for yourself? :)

Until next time.... God bless!

Review of Persian Cucumbers from Trader Joe's

These cucumbers are the only kind my husband and I use in our salads now. They are just that good. These always have a good flavor, whereas occasionally the regular kind will have a 'dirt' flavor, for lack of a better description. These cucumbers are seedless, sweet, and have a thinner skin. They are also a bit smaller, but several come in a container, so that more than makes up the difference. They are available at Trader Joe's for about $4, which isn't bad for the amount that you get.

A few cucumber facts

According to SpecialityProduce.com,
cucumbers are actually fruits, but are generally treated as vegetables. They also claim that the inside of a cucumber can remain 20 degrees cooler than the skin, thus the saying "Cool as a cucumber'.
