Try It Tuesday: Review of the Original Sunshine Burger

We picked up a new kind of veggie burger from Whole Foods over the weekend, the Sunshine Burger. It seems to be quite nutritious, and it is vegan. We put our frozens in a cooler with ice, so that is why the box looks like it's been wet. The burgers are in plastic in the box, so they were a okay. :) You can view the ingredients and nutritional information in the picture below.

As far as taste is concerned, I liked it pretty well. It does have a definite sunflower seed taste to it, but I really like sunflower seeds. :) I will probably try more flavors of this brand of burger in the future. Here is a photo of a prepared Sunshine burger, topped with Daiya cheese:
Their ingredients are non GMO, which is a big plus. If you'd like to check them out online, visit them at http://www.SunshineBurger.com.

Until next time.... God bless!

Munchin' Monday: On My Plate... Trader Joe's Vegetable Masala Burger

Share this post:
Trader Joe's Vegetable Masala burgers are tasty and economical. (Read review here.) A box of 4 is like $2. They are potato based with veggies like corn and carrots mixed in, along with Indian spices. I like to eat this veggie burger on a bun (had to make my own today:), with organic cheese (Horizon brand I think). I also put ketchup and mustard on my veggie burger, and it is yum to the e.

Amy's All American Veggie Burger Product Review

I can  honestly say that I have not tasted an Amy's meal that I didn't like, and these burgers are no exception. These are just your basic, really good and tasty burgers. There is nothing about them I don't like and they make a very nice main course. Veggie burgers can be made of many things, but these particular ones are made from organic soy protein, veggies such as bell pepper and carrots, grains, mushroom, walnut, etc...

They are organic and GMO free. One burger has 130 calories, 3.5 grams of fat, no cholesterol, 12 grams of protein, and only 2 grams of sugar. And the taste.... is good. :)

Smoky almond veggie burger recipe

This recipe is vegan, and it is very good! I had some almond meal left over from when I made almond milk , so I whipped up this little recipe- and I am super glad I did! If you don't have any left over almond meal, you can buy it at the grocery store. I know that Walmart has it in their specialty section. My husband and I had plenty to eat with this recipe and there is some left overs in the freezer for this coming week. Yum!

Before I get started with the recipe, just look at this yummy burger! Notice that I have lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard, ketchup, and a slice of avocado. Yes, a slice of AVOCADO! :) This gives the burger a yummy creaminess with no cheese. :)

I really love the smoky flavor that this burger has. It is one of my favorite veggie burger recipes. To make this recipe, you will need:
  • @ 1 1/2 cups almond meal
  • 1 cup pinto beans, prepared (tips on preparing & cooking beans)
  • 2-3 tablespoons liquid smoke (make sure it's vegan)
  • 1 teaspoon curry
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon basil (read health benefits here)
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon crushed garlic
  • 1 onion and 1 small red pepper, finely diced in food processor or chopper like Ninja
  • 1/2 cup flour (add more if mixture needs thickening)
  • pinch of salt
Blend all of these ingredients together very well. Your mixture may seem a bit on the runny side- don't worry. You will still be able to form patties (carefully) and they will cook up very well. This is what you should have at this point:

Now, heat your oven to 350 degrees and grease a pan with a bit of coconut oil. Form into patties, like so:
Cook for 30 minutes, flip, and then cook for  30 more minutes. Then remove from oven, let cool a bit, and prepare with all of your favorite fixings! More pics of mine....

Enjoy!
